Title Moving Landscapes
Format Project presentation
Main language English
Abstract This postdoctoral research brings together Campi Flegrei volcanic caldera's geological history and human histories, challenging knowledge hierarchies and advocating historical awareness and curiosity as survival tools amid unrest. Movement here is a tool for investigation, and gaze created using various cameras - a way to rethink time through visual textures. Drawing on mythology and volcanology's sonic investigations, Uran Apak's improvised voice compositions underscore the soundscape. Resonance in this project is not a metaphor, but a physical experience and a tool of investigation. Acknowledging artists' predecessors like Pietro Fabris's volcanic watercolors, Benjamin and Lācis's yellow tuff essay, Gaudino's bradyseismic films, this project positions art as a source of knowledge that does not outdate.
